Welcome to Rayvin Media
Hi I'm Nicole McIntyre. I'm a Front-End Developer from NYC. I'm passionate about building modern web applications and working with multiple web development paradigms. It’s a wonderful feeling to work in a sector that is always looking for ways to improve or make people’s lives easier.
The browser is slowly replacing traditional operating systems and because of that we all have unlimited access to information at our fingertips, that is what gets me excited about web development.
I created Rayvin Media accidentally. It was built out of a desire to help small business owners, ship their product or service. A website is not a cost it's an investment. Customers are looking for your information and how you engage them starts with your online presence.

A cozy upscale coffee shop serving breakfast, lunch, Willoughby's Coffee and homemade patries in Pelham NY.
Developing a website for a cafe is tricky. You want to make sure you capture the emotive feeling of the shop in addition to highlighting the things that makes it special. Stepping into Pelville Coffee & Pastry feels like someone welcoming you into their home.

Countdown landing page for Brooklyn's NYE Ball
A client contacted me to build a site around a new event coming to Brooklyn, NYC. A landing page was needed to inform Brooklynites that a new New Years Eve tradition was starting. A ball rise not drop like in Times Square.
The mission was to highlight Brooklyn's diversity, arts and culture.
My task was to create a landing page that informed visitors of the event but also spotlight the design on the structure of the LED ball that was going to rise up at midnight.

I was asked to help design a new feture for new one-of-a-kind products that were going to be added each fashion season.
The team had setup the site using Squarespace prior to being contracted. While I support the use of Wix and Squarespace for basic website setups, when you want to build something outside of the box and take your templated design to a new level a developer is needed.
I came onboard at the time to help them craft a more unique experience for their customers.

CodePen projects are my favorite. It's a community of people who are extremely creative and encouraging to one another. You can learn and discover so much about development. CodePen is where I learn new css tricks (@css-tricks also a fantastic resource) and how I keep my skills fresh.
Embarking on the journey of learning to code was not easy. One my background is in Business and Communications. I was never a computer science major and couldn't begin to decipher what a fast matrix multiplication algorithim was (I still can't explain this one). However I learned to break things down into easier to digest bites and stretched myself little by little out of my comfort zone.
I spent hours on reading coding books, watching videos, building not so great (yet helpful) projects and reading through source code on GitHub. You have to start somewhere.
These are just a few projects I worked on along the journey.

As a freelance Front-End Developer I get to work with a pool of very interesting clients. It allows me to learn multiple frameworks, CMS systems, new design techiques, and everything in between. It also allows me to dedicate a small percentage of my time to work on things that are important to me.
I have a special connection between food and design
For me food is medicine. Cooking is peace. When I start a new coding project I approach it as if I'm cooking a Michelin star recipe.
Cooking and coding follows very similar steps. They both follow a iterative logical process. When developing a recipe you ponder what your ingredients will be (research), the type of cuisine to cook in (design), you taste test along the way (testing), and finally your dish is complete and you get to share it with others (product release).
Maybe cooking good food inspires you as much as it inspires me.
